ALEXANDER ANISSIMOV
Chief conductor – artistic director of the Belarusian State Academic Symphonic Orchestra, Chief conductor of the Rostov State Musical Theatre, Conductor Emeritus of the Irish National Symphonic Orchestra, Doctor of Music Honorus causa of the Irish National University, President of the Irish Vagner Society, the Honoured Man of Arts in Russia, the Laureate of the Belarusian State Prize, Cavalier of the “Francysk Skaryna” Order.
During his work in Leningrad in Malyi opera theatre named after Musorgski, in Perm" Academic theatre named after Tchaikovski, in Minsk Bolshoi Opera and ballet theatre and in Rostov, Maestro conducted a vast opera and ballet repertoire. It includes: 1st reduction of “Lady Macbeth of Mzensk” by Shostakovich, “Virinea” by Slonimski, the 2-nights variant of the “War and Peace” by Prokofiev, “Mother” by Khrennikov, “Fire Angel” and “Maddalena” by Prokofiev (first time in the USSR), 1st performance of “Master and Margarita” by Glebov, 1st performance of “The New Land” by Semeniaka, 1st performance of “The King"s Stakh Wild Hunting”, for which he got the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus.
Maestro Anissimov tours a lot. The most important works are: “Boris Godunov” in Comishe opera (France), “Prince Igor” in Huston and Marcel, “War and Peace” in San-Francisco, “Andre Shenie” in Adelaida, “Don Karlos” in Genoa, “Madam Butterfly” in Saint-Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre, “Eugen Onegin” in Moscow Bolshoi Theatre and in Paris Bastille Opera, “The Power of Destiny” in the State Opera of Hamburg.
In 2002 the National youth orchestra of Ireland and the international stuff of soloists under Alexander Anissimov presented to the auditorium in Limerick (Ireland) and Bermingham (England) the 4-nights concert performance of the “Nibelungs" Ring” by Vagner.
The Naxos Company has edited all the symphonies by Rakhmaninov (with the Irish National symphonic orchestra), all symphonies by Glazunov (with the Moscow symphonic orchestra) and of the opera “Demon” by Rubinstein, conducted by Alexander Anissimov.
In 2004 the EMI company, for the first time in the history of the Shostakovich" opera “Lady Macbeth of Mzensk”, edited the video-disk of the opera"s first reduction conducted by Maestro Anissimov, recorded during the performance in Liceo, Barcelona.
