The Belarusian State Ensemble of folk music “Sviata”

“Sviata” is the symbol word of the Slavs.This is a holiday in the people"s spiritual life which is connected both with culture and nature, as well as labour cycles. The musical culture of the nation expressed by music, songs and dances always was an important part of this life.
The Belarusian State Ensemble of folk music “Sviata” is the first Belarusian professional folk ensemble of this genre that revives the national music heritage.
The ensemble has been created at the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society in 1984 in the capital of the Republic of Belarus – in Minsk. Its concert program is constructed in general on the music folklore of Belarusian Polesye, which is the treasury of spiritual culture of the East Slavs. The music and songs written down directly from village people are performed on ancient and traditional instruments, thus saving the style and color of the sound. That"s why they are so close and understandable not only to Belarusians, but also to the people of different nationalities. The combination of music, songs and dances gave the possibility to create bright concert programs, which are accepted with big success in the homeland and far from its borders.
The ensemble “Sviata” took part not once in the International art festivals, gave concert tours in Canada, Austria, Germany, Italy, India, and Korea, has good responses in press and a grateful audience, was awarded with different diplomas and prizes.
For 18 years of its concert activity the Belarusian State Ensemble of folk music “Sviata” performed more than 4 000 concerts.
The music arrangement is made by the Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Vasiliy Kuprijanenko.
 
The art director of the ensemble is the Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Anatoliy Kashtalapov.
