The big concert organ of the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society welcomes the coming of spring with its regal sound!
On March 1, 2022, candidate of art history Olga Savitskaya invites to the next concert of her author’s cycle “Masterpieces of World Organ Art”, in which the chief organist of the Limburg symphony orchestra, titular organist of St.Christopher Cathedral and the Carolus Chapel in Roermond Jean-Pierre Steijvers (Netherlands) will perform.
This outstanding performer, winner of many international competitions, regularly gives concerts in Europe, Japan, the USA, and Russia. He has repeatedly performed with the Sydney symphony orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazi and with the Royal Flemish symphony orchestra conducted by Edo de Waart.
The organ duet of Jean-Pierre Steijvers with Hiroko Inoue became very famous in the world.
Jean-Pierre Steijvers is the organizer of the annual International organ festival with the participation of world-renowned musicians. Educated in Maastricht and Amsterdam (where he graduated from the Svelink Conservatory) and perfected his skills under the guidance of leading organists in Europe, Steijvers is also known as a pianist, conductor and teacher, who annually conducts master classes and teaches at the Moscow International summer school in the Gnesin Russian Academy of music
On March 1, Jean-Pierre Steijvers will present an impressive variety program at the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society. In his selection of organ masterpieces, the maestro paves the way from the “great epoch” of organ art to modernity, encouraging music from distant traditions to interact in a single time space. This evening, samples of Baroque art (Dietrich Buxtehude, Johann Sebastian Bach, Nicolas de Grigny) will be side by side with romantic works (Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdi and Charles-Marie Widor), and church music of the XX century (Hendrik Andreessen) – with the works of the popular modern Danish author Ad Vammes and even the film music of Mikael Tariverdiev. By the way, Stivers is a recognized interpreter of the music of this composer (in 1999 he became the winner of the First International competition of organists named after M.Tariverdiev) and often includes it in his programs.
